Liverpool's Champions League Winning Midfielder Wants Luis Suarez to Leave
Dietmar Hamann has called on Liverpool to release Uruguay striker Luis Suarez this summer, despite the South American's reported change of heart regarding a transfer.
The 26-year-old former Ajax star has spent much of the summer so far trying to engineer, very publically, a move from Anfield to Arsenal. However, reports from Uruguay now claim that Suarez has decided to stay with the Merseyside outfit; he claims to have changed his mind because of "the affection of the people".
Hamann, who played for Liverpool between 1999 and 2006 (winning the FA Cup, the UEFA Cup and, most famously, the Champions League) believes keeping Suarez at Anfield now will only threaten the club's stability.
"He has disrespected the football club, and the history and the heritage of the club. I think the club will be better without him and I don't think the team will be worse off without him. In football you need a team. One player doesn't make a team, one player doesn't make a football club," the former German international explained.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers and club owner John W Henry have been very clear about their no-sale stance, despite Arsene Wenger being equally confident he can convince the Reds to sell their prized striker.
Suarez's value to Liverpool was clearly evident last season - the striker scored 23 goals from 33 Premier League starts to lead the Reds to a top-half finish. Nevertheless, despite his heroics the club will be without continental competition this year, as Rodgers continues his rebuilding project.
"As we have seen in the past, the likes of [Fernando] Torres, [Kenny] Dalglish, [Robbie] Fowler, [Ian] Rush, [Michael] Owen have all left and the club carried on. Most important is a good team and the man who is in charge," Hamann continued, dismissing suggestions of an implosion at Anfield this season if Suarez were to be sold.
Behind the scenes though, there is evidence Rodgers is preparing for life without Suarez. Liverpool have moved swiftly in the summer transfer market and the arrival of Spanish attacking duo Luis Alberto and Iago Aspas has not gone unnoticed.
The fact the Northern Irishman should, hopefully, be able to call on a fully fit Fabio Borini is another bonus, as is the pre-season form displayed by Brazilian attacker Philippe Coutinho. All said and done though, the loss of a world-class striker like Suarez will affect any team, meaning that if Suarez does indeed leave (this summer or the next) it will be for a massive fee.

Metalist Kharkiv disqualified from Champions League
Metalist Kharkiv have been disqualified from the Champions League following a match-fixing investigation which means PAOK Thessaloniki could now be reinstated.
Metalist were scheduled to play Schalke next Wednesday in the first leg of the play-off round, after eliminating PAOK in the third qualifying round last week.
Uefa must now decide whether to reprieve PAOK, who are due to play in the Europa League play-offs next week.
The Uefa emergency panel, comprising five members of the Uefa executive committee, was meeting later on Wednesday "to consider the consequences of the decision on the competition," European football's governing body said in a statement.
Metalist are likely to challenge Uefa with an urgent appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
The Ukrainian club could also ask CAS to freeze sanctions while the case is processed, allowing its debut Champions League campaign to continue.
Metalist were due to host Schalke in the return match on August 27, with the winner advancing to the group stage draw in Monaco two days later.
Uefa charged Metalist last week after CAS upheld the sports director Yevhen Krasnikov's five-year ban imposed by the Ukrainian Football Federation. Krasnikov allegedly helped fix a 2008 Ukrainian league match against Karpaty Lviv.
CAS also upheld a Ukraine Football Federation (FFU) decision to fine Metalist Kharkiv and FC Karpaty $25,000 each over the manipulation of a match played in April 2008.
"The football clubs FC Metalist and FC Karpaty were held liable for the behaviour of their football players or officials under the principle of strict liability," said CAS.
It also upheld the FFU's decision to strip Metalist of their third-place finish that season.
CAS also confirmed a five-year ban on one Metalist player involved in the game and three-year bans on another five.
Two Karpaty officials were given suspended bans and ordered to pay "compulsory cash contributions" to the FFU while CAS upheld an appeal by a third official from the club.

Champions League T20: India to consider visas for Pakistani T20 side ...
External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said India has been approached for visas for the Pakistan T20 champions Faisalabad Wolves.
New Delhi: India said on Tuesday it would "consider all aspects" and take a call on providing visas to a Pakistani cricket team to participate in the Champions League Twenty20 tournament that starts next month.External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said India has been approached for visas for the Pakistan T20 champions Faisalabad Wolves. He said the tournament does not start for over a month from now and "now that we have received the request, we will carefully examine it and consider all aspects before we take a decision, and we will communicate it to all".India-Pakistan ties have taken a dip in recent days following a border flare-up in which Pakistani troops last week killed five Indian soldiers on the LoC, which divides Kashmir between the two countries, triggering anger in India and calls by the opposition BJP to call off talks. There have been repeated violations of the ceasefire on the LoC in the past few days, heightening tension between the two neighbours. The 2013 edition of the CLT20 has four teams playing the qualifying round: Otago Volts (New Zealand), Sunrisers Hyderabad (India), winner of Sri Lankan domestic T20 meet and Faisalabad Wolves. Each of the two qualifying teams will join the main groups after playing a qualifying tournament that starts on September 17.
Women's Champions League: Glasgow beat Twente to qualify
Last updated at 17:20 GMT
Glasgow City qualified for the Women's Champions League round of 32 for the third year running after a narrow win over hosts Twente in the Netherlands.
Rachel Corsie opened the scoring for the Scottish champions after 39 minutes of the Group 8 decider.
And substitute Sarah Crilly fired the second in stoppage time.
It means that City top the group with maximum points without the loss of a goal after earlier wins over Croats Osijek and Maltese Birkirkara.
But Northern Irish champions Crusaders Strikers and Welsh representatives Cardiff City both ended their campaigns with defeats and at the bottom of their qualifying sections.
Crusaders at least managed a goal, Northern Ireland midfielder Danielle McDowell giving the Group 3 hosts an 11th-minute lead over Republic of Ireland opponents Raheny United.
However, goals from Ireland strikers Noelle Murray and Mary Waldron after 29 and 58 minutes ensured their side recorded their first points of a group won by MTK Hungaria after their 1-0 win over Ukrainian chamions Kharkiv.
Cardiff finished their campaign without scoring and at the bottom of Group 1 after losing 1-0 to Konak Belediyespor, the Turks qualifying as group winners.
The Welsh lost their opener 3-0 to hosts SFK 2000 Sarajevo in Bosnia-Hercegovena and then 2-0 to NSA Sofia of Bulgaria.
Glasgow, Scottish champions for the last six seasons, battled to victory against Twente in front of 2,750 fans.
Sari van Veenendaal turned an early shot from Denise O'Sullivan wide for a corner before Lee Alexander denied defender Kirsten Bakker at the other end.
Midfielder Sherida Spitse sent an effort wide and Dutch international colleague Anouk Dekker was next to test the Glasgow goalkeeper, but the striker's effort was easily held.
However, it was Corsie who put Glasgow ahead when she headed in from a Leanne Ross free-kick.
Van Veenendaal produced another fine save to deny Suzanne Lappin as the first half ended goalless.
Spitse missed the target with a couple of long-range efforts shortly after the break before van Veenendaal denied Joanne Love after the midfielder's fine run from the halfway line.
A last-ditch tackle from Corsie denied Dekker, while Spitse sent another effort just over the crossbar from the edge of the penalty box.
Glasgow had chances of their own and Nicola Docherty fired wide for Glasgow, while Lappin heade wide.
The visitors secured the victory when O'Sullivan broke through and, although she was denied by the goalkeeper, Crilly followed up on the rebound.
There was still time for Van Veenendaal to deny Ruesha Littlejohn and Alexander prevented Maayke Heuver grabbing a late consolation.
It means that Glasgow go through as one of eight group winners, while Twente must wait to see if they are one of the two best runners-up to qualify.
Chelsea boss Mourinho plans signing of triple UEFA Champions League ...

Chelsea ready to tempt highest paid player in the world with huge deal.
Chelsea are hopeful of signing veteran Anzhi Makhachkala striker Samuel Eto'o, according to the Daily Mirror, and it appears to be a move that would suit all parties.
Anzhi are prepared to sell their best players due to a poor start to the season and financial difficulties, and Eto'o - the highest paid footballer in the world with colossal wages believed to be £350,000 per week - is the top priority to get off the wage bill.
Cameroon international legend Eto'o too seems far from averse to the prospective transfer, citing his previous successful relationship with Chelsea's manager Jose Mourinho as a key factor in his interest.
Eto'o played under the Portuguese coach at Inter Milan, and helped the Serie A side win a famous treble of Serie A title, Coppa Italia, and UEFA Champions League - the third of his career after two with FC Barcelona.
"There is only one Jose Mourinho," extolled Eto'o of his former boss.
"I have played under a lot of great coaches - but there is no other character in the game like Jose.
"He is one of the best coaches in the world - and we had a lot of success together at Inter Milan. I would like to have the chance to play under him again - because it is never boring when Jose is around."
"Chelsea are a great team. When we have all the offers on the table then I will discuss with my agent and see what my next step is."
